In January 2015, AES was awarded the contract for the Electrical Installation, Instrumentation, Light & Power, Earthing & Lightning for the Wickham Tertiary Waste Water Treatment Plant which is located 50km’s west of Karratha. The Plant is a Rio Tinto project for the Wickham Township to service its Cape Lambert Port operations. Upon its final completion the plant will be handed over to the WA Water Corporation.

All AES works carried out were done to the very highest standards to meet compliance with both Rio Tinto and Water Corporation standards. Upon its successful completion of its contract AES was also awarded the Electrical commissioning phase of the project.

Early February 2015 a contingent of 6 AES staff were deployed to site to carry out preliminary works to run and position conduits and pits for project.

Installation of Cable Trays/Racking and Cabling

By the end of February 2015 AES expanded its team on site to 14 staff which consisted of mainly of Electrical Staff together with a Boilermaker, Trade Assistant and Dogman. The focus of this next phase for AES, being to construct the labyrinth of cable trays/racking which is to support the numerous cables, large and small, which will power the various locations of the plant.

The late April, May 2015 the AES team was increased to 20 staff. This crucial point of the project saw key aspects such as the Installation and Termination of multiple Switch and Power Boards also Lighting and Power  was also completed throughout the site. AES also completed the site Earth Resistivity Testing.


Practical Completion

Practical Completion

The dedicated AES Wickham Team worked relentlessly throughout the balance of May 2015 and the project was at a point of Practical Completion the end of the first week of June 2015. The majority of staff demobilised at this point.    Our client further extended our involvement on the project with an invitation to carry out Commissioning Works for the Plant which continued until the last week of August 2015.
